Photo Assignment #17: Football

Yesterday, on this week's writing prompt, I shared my love of the college football season. So I'll carry over that theme here with this week's photography assignment:

Share your football pictures with us this week in the Pix-N-Pens photo album. Use the password inspired to access the album.

At the end of the month, we'll announce a contest involving some of these photos, so get your entries in now to qualify.

ROLL TIDE!

Photo Assignment #16: Seasons

Here in south Alabama, the change of seasons isn't visible yet with leaves, but we can tell autumn is arriving because of the change in sunlight, and because of all the recent rain. One of my precious friends is experiencing fall in Maine for the first time this year - she's already declared it "the most beautiful place I've ever seen."

This week's photography assignment: Share your change of seasons with us. This time - feel free to submit up to three photos to our Pix-N-Pens photo album. (Access the album using the password inspired.)

We'll announce a contest at the end of October and some of your previously posted photos may come into play.

Photo Assignment #15: People

I rarely photograph people. To me, it's easier to photograph critters. (They don't talk back to you, do they?)

But some photographers I know have a special gift for photographing people. So this week, submit your best shots of a person or of people. Just make sure you have their permission to share the photo.

Then, share it with us over at the Pix-N-Pens photo album. Use the password inspired to access the account. When you post a photo, come back here and leave a comment, so we'll know you're participating.

And don't forget - toward the end of October, we'll announce a special contest involving all these assignments.

Photo Assignment #12: Food

I didn't realize I missed last week's photo assignment until I started posting this one. Sorry about the missed opportunity.

This week, let's focus on food! Take some fun or delectable photos of food (prepared or not) and submit to our Pix-N-Pens photo album.

I'll be announcing a contest in October that will put all these photos to good use, so participate now for your chance to win!

Photo Assignment #11: Textures

Photographing noise must have been too complicated for all of us (although I admit I didn't have time to try.) Did you try? Was it too difficult?

This week's assignment promises to be easier.

Texture.

Photograph textures, then post your best over at our Pix-N-Pens photo album. (Use the password inspired to access the album for viewing or posting.)

Photo Assignment #10: Can You Capture Noise with your Camera?

Our writing prompts over the next few weeks are focusing on sensory details, so I'd like to see if we can do the same thing with our cameras.

Your challenge this week, if it's possible to do:

Can you capture noise with a still camera? Can a photo express noise?

Give it your best shot - try to take some pictures of NOISE (no videos/audios allowed). Share your best with us over at the Pix-N-Pens Photo Album. Use the password inspired to view or post to the album.

Photo Assignment #8: Changing Perspectives

I am currently studying an awesome photography book (The Step-by-Step Photography Workshop) that had an interesting pair of photos. The photographer used the exact same location, exact same camera settings, and the photos were taken just moments apart, so the lighting was the same. The ONLY difference was the lens he used to change the perspective of the picture entirely. The composition of the picture was so different that if they had not been side-by-side and identified as the same location, I would have thought it was two entirely different places.

This week, I want us to try something similar. We all probably don't have the same lens he had, and we may not even have more than one lens. But go out and shoot some different scenes from the same angle, but try to achieve a different perspective.

Then, post BOTH shots in our Pix-N-Pens photo album. Use the password inspired to post to and/or view the album.

This should be an interesting week. Let me know what you think.

Photo Assignment #7: More than Blue Skies

Was the SHAPES assignment too challenging? Or did everyone else have a crazy busy week like I did? Keep looking for those shapes, and if you find one, go ahead and post it whenever you get ready.

Assignment for this week:

The color BLUE. Interpreted however you like.

View and post photos over at our Pix-N-Pens album. The password is inspired.

Photo Assignment #6: Shapes

The photos being submitted each week for our assignments are creating a wonderful album. Be sure to check out all the entries over at our Pix-N-Pens Photo Album. (The password is inspired.)

This week, let's take on shapes. Take some photos that focus on the SHAPE of the subject or of SHAPES as the subject itself.

Then choose your favorite, and add it to our album. The password is inspired.

And who knows, we may have a contest with all of these some day, too!

For other assignments, check last week's post.

Did the action photo get you stumped last week? I'm still waiting on that hummingbird to appear. We put up the feeder this weekend, and we've seen them several times - just never when I have my camera handy!

Photo Assignment #4: Action

Last week's assignment had me hunting for options all week - and as of this posting, I still haven't accomplished the task. But I'm not giving up. Silhouettes intrigue me right now, so I'm trying to find an opportunity to shoot them.

Be sure to visit our Pix-N-Pens photo album at Photobucket (password inspired) to view the beautiful photos being submitted! And to share your own adventures.

This week's assignment:

Action. Capture the action so the viewer can tell the subject is in motion of some sort.

Then, submit your best photo of the week over at our Pix-N-Pens album so we can all "ooh and ahh."

View previous assignments here.

Happy Shooting!

Photo Assignment - 6/16 - 6/22

We're starting something new here at Pix-N-Pens. Each Tuesday, I'll post a photo assignment. During the week, try to photograph the assignment, and then look through your photos and pick ONE that you think represents the assignment best, and post it over at our special Pix-N-Pens group folder at Photobucket. I set up the group so that readers of Pix-N-Pens can view it, but not anyone else and no one can copy your work when you post it. You'll need the password - inspired - to login.

The purpose of these writing prompts (on Mondays) and photo assignments on Tuesdays is to help us CREATE. I'll be using the prompts and participating in the assignments myself - as a way to spur my own creativity, and pull me out of any ruts I might be in during any given week. I hope you'll join me.

This week's assignment:

Turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Choose an ordinary, everyday item around your house, and photograph it in such a way that it becomes an extraordinary piece of art.

Sometime during this week - June 16-22 - select ONE of your photos, and post over in our special Pix-N-Pens group folder at Photobucket. The password is inspired. Then, leave a comment letting us know you've posted your photo.

Have fun. I can't wait to see your work. And figure out what I'm going to shoot, too!
