Let the Judging Begin!

I'm getting a late start today - sorry. Trying to do too many things at once.

Time to place your votes for the best photo. Rules are in the right column. You can send me an email with your vote, or place them under any/all of the photos. You can explain your vote if you wish - just be nice!

I'll announce the winner and a new contest on Monday.

Contest Entry March 19-23, 2007

Emerald Isle

Photo Submitted by Cecelia Mackin

My interest in reading is mainly historical novels, and in particular Irish history. Ireland is the land of my ancestors, and in 2004 I was able to travel there with my daughter, my sister and my sister's son; we all share a common love of the Irish and their history.

This photo was taken at a particularly beautiful point on the west coast of Ireland. The beauty of the hills in the distance are evocative of all of Ireland's beauty; the shadows and clouds stir a feeling of sadness in what was lost in Ireland's past. This photo is one that I treasure!

Thanks, Cecelia!

Contest Entries March 19-23, 2007

Submitted by Flora Reigada with the following explanation:

My husband took this picture of our daughter to illustrate the messageof my Messianic novel, The Face Behind the Veil. The photo is on thebook's cover. The publisher (Author House) superimposed old rowhouses on the curtains. They are actual row houses where I once lived.Unfolding in old New York, the story explores the hidden secrets of themysterious birth veil, what it meant to three generations of women andwhat it means to us today. Our daughter, who is wearing a vintage costume has performed at ourlocal theater: The Titusville Playhouse. As she posed in our bedroomdoorway, I hid behind a wall and held up the curtain, while my husbandsnapped the photo.

Thanks, Flora!

Contest!

Grab your cameras and start shooting! We're having a contest!

Each week, I'll announce a new theme. Take pictures reflecting this theme, and submit your favorites (limit two per person, per week). Then come back and vote on the best photos. The rules, regulations, judging criteria, and all the fine print are in the column to the right, so check that out before participating.

THEME for MARCH 19-23, 2007:

Many of us are writers, so this week's theme will revolve around writing! Send us a picture that best represents the GENRE you write, want to write, or like to read. (examples: a romance writer might have photos of hearts or flowers or candles; a suspense writer might shoot pix with deep shadows; a travel writer might show landscapes. You get the idea!) Be creative.

The winner of this contest will receive:

See No Evil, the latest novel by Gayle Roper.

If you haven't read this romantic suspense yet, you're in for a treat! A real roller-coaster ride full of twists and turns, fun and excitement.

Feature display of photo with bio and website promotion.

Entry into the grand prize drawing in December.
